   "Soldiers Home" by Ernest Hemingway, is a short story about a soldier that comes home from World War I and is trying to be a rugular citizen in society.  On returning home Kreb sees the change in his home town especially his family who also sees the change in him.  "Nothing was changed in the town except that the young girls had grown up".  The town had not changed except for the girls getting older.  "I'll try and be a good boy for you".  He is going to try to be a better boy.http://www.ernest.hemingway.com/

The Feather Pillow!

   The short story "Feather Pillow" by Horacio Quiroga is about a woman named Alicia who is killed from a pariseite in her pillow.  During this time women were not given the same rights as men showing why Alicia was not taken care of when she went to the doctor.  "A blond, angelic, and timid young girl, the childhood fancies she had dreamed about being a bride had been chilled by her husband's rough character".  A fair-haired, innocent, and shy adolescent girl, the early days imagined she had daydream about being a bride had been pushed aside by her husband's uneven nature.  Jordan's doctor examined her with minute attention, prescribing calm and absolute rest.  The doctor observed Jordan with little consideration, recommendations of rest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horacio_Quiroga

The Aftershock of World Wwar I
